Vitruvian Farms Workshops
Are you interested in starting your own farm or market garden? Do you have an interest in organic crop production and certification? Have you thought about raising pastured pigs or laying hens? Would you like to learn about hoop house construction, orchard planting, mushroom growing, greens harvesting, microgreen production, compost, soil fertility management, or season extension? Whether you are a backyard gardener or an aspiring small farmer we will be offering workshops to fit your interests in the fall of 2016.
The demand for organic, locally grown food is growing fast. At the Vitruvian Farms Workshops you will learn how we grew our farm to serve over 40 different restaurant establishments in the Madison area in just 5 years. Not only will we teach you how to grow, but we will show you how to find customers, acquire land, and where to find money to start a venture of your own. Because we focus on growing high value crops in small spaces, our workshops can be geared towards either rural or urban agriculture projects. We can show you how to start your own profitable venture whether you aim to make $5,000 a year as a hobby or $250,000 a year as a profitable organic farm.
Now don't get us wrong, farming is not easy. Growing good food takes dedication, hard work, and passion. But if it's really what you want, we can help you save time and money by showing you how to avoid simple mistakes in the beginning. Our aim is to show you how you can work towards something you believe in, make a difference in the world, and pay the bills along the way.
